Description: Very original and moody gothic horror starring Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee.
Cushing plays Emmanuel Hildern, a 19th century scientist who returns from an expedition in New Guinea with a large, misshapen skeleton. Whenever the bones come into contact with water, the flesh begins to grow back! Hildern begins to theorize that this is the fossilized remains of the original progenitor of evil upon the world, and starts using his sample of regenerated flesh to develop a vaccine against evil – with tragic results.
Adding to Hildern’s woes is his envious half-brother (Lee). Seeking to make Hildern’s discovery his own, he hires a ne’er-do-well to steal the skeleton… during a rainstorm.
Emmanuel Hildern (Peter Cushing) discovers the ancient skeleton of an intelligent being while on a dig in New Guinea. Upon his return to England, he accidentally finds that the flesh of the skeleton regenerates when touched by water. Murder, madness, treachery, amputation, and an escaped lunatic follow as the movie unfolds and heads for its suprise ending.

The version posted here is a vhs rip off of tv with a bit of tracking issues and full screen presentation but is absolutely watchable. The film itself has the usual performances by Cushing and Lee with a decent story that’s dragged down a bit by some very dated special effects in some sequences
