Excellent cast and photography, personally this is one of Bava’s best effort in his serier of made for Tv quickie. Gory tv movie by the great L. Bava (Macabro and Demons), originally part of the series ALTA TENSIONE. Starring Tomas Arana and David Brandon.
Review: “The Prince of terror ” – one of the rare films giants of Italian horror Lamberto Bava.
The plot is that a famous director Vincent Omen, nicknamed the Maestro of Horror, shooting another zombie movie, quarrels with the screenwriter and fires him. He decides to take revenge Vincent and enters his home, taking with him the same resentful director actor. There villains suit massacre Omen and his family, in the best traditions of the genre. But who is the real Maestro of Horror, writer or director, but in the end it turns out the film.
The plot is quite good, but the implementation is lame places (for example, near the middle of the action essentially loses momentum). Most likely, this is due to lack of funds for better horror because the film was made for television.
Of the benefits mentioned confident game actors, especially Thomas Arana, known for “cathedral” Michele Soave and the notorious “Gladiator” by Ridley Scott. But the actor who played the writer, coped well with the role.
Individual words deserve special effects genius Sergio Stivaletti and music by Simon Boswell.
This film is not worth waiting for pathological cruelty Fulci or Argento filigree style, but it definitely deserves attention, not least because of the magnificent ending, for which I can safely add another 2 points.
