Review: Outrageous and apparently forgotten made-for-TV movie from 1989 that stars Joe Estevez as a painfully naive son and Marilyn Adams as “Milly”, a mother so mentally disordered like you’ve never seen it before. It’s a “psychological thriller” by the numbers mixed with hag horror and even family melodrama elements, but actually it’s a textbook example of a movie where absolutely nothing works. I’m a fan of this hilariously entertaining film since I saw it on German TV as a kid (for some weird reason it has been aired there under the title “The Death Angel of San Francisco”). It’s priceless fun, full of incredibly strange moments (the dance in the garden, the phone call with the therapist, the conversation between Milly and the cab driver etc.) and some unforgettable acting. Not to mention the nail-biting last act that should not only please suspense connoisseurs. I’m kinda serious. However, it’s the only film a guy called Tony Jiti Gill ever directed. Too bad.
