Review: The end of the 80- ies of the last century – the time of sunset classic Italian horror-movie. And as if still full of creative energy masters ( Argento and Fulci ) , there is still a talented young people (one “Cathedral” by Michele Soavi enough to remember ), but it is already clear that the genre has come to a standstill : the audience already knows beforehand all the plot lines , used to the atmosphere it is easy to anticipate the behavior of the main characters , etc , etc. However, the films continue to appear , the industry is still running , providing moviegoers material for home film libraries for many years to come. The debut work of a young (at the time ), directed by Gianfranco Gianni “Labyrinth Spider ” is just a typical representative of the Italian production of its era . Not enough stars in the sky , ready to cut on the patterns of Argento and Bava , the film is still quite capable of attracting the attention of fans of the genre for the evening and take place in the collection , though not the first in its ranks.
The plot of the story is very traditional – a young but highly respected in academic circles, Professor Alan Whitmore is sent to Hungary to find traces of an ancient cult that existed in there the edges. If you thought that the protagonist once again have to grapple with Count Dracula and his cronies (well , who else can be driven in the Transylvanian castles ? ), We were wrong . Great monster movie! Love the creepy baby-into-spider effects. Reminded me of John Carpenter’s the Thing. Definitely worth a watch.
