Into the period of Ireland’s Great Famine, a senior gravedigger revisits a terrible event through the decaying visions of his fragmented aspirations. In 1996 the half-hour IFB/RTE duration drama entitled ‘Poorhouse’ had been sent. Directed by Frank Stapleton and based on a brief tale by Michael Harding, the movie is scheduled during the period of Ireland’s Great Famine. The story concerns the connection of a senior gravedigger and a youthful female. Powerfully evoking a cultural mind of hardship and loss from 150 many years previously, the film slipped into obscurity in a forward-looking period.
