Description: Characters of the film – the provincial British teenagers struggling of idleness and elected as idols characters some criminal fighters.
This film stars Danny Dyer (Straightheads) in a supporting role using his typical “I’m a geezer initt” acting style. The film is set in Newhaven, East Sussex, a sleepy town on the British South Coast. It follows the trails and tribulations of a bunch of local teens, specifically Robert Carmichael the eponymous hero.
Without wanting to give too much away this film comes across as a rather typical British ‘yoot’ getting up to no good because they’re bored type of film. However there are two things that make it stand out from the multi-tude of Brit flicks such as this. Firstly it is shot with real polish and a deliberate arthouse style. Secondly what appears to be an average British film turns into something far more dark.

It’s the ENGLISH south coast thank you very much – and Danny Dyer is white. Her doesn’t, for all his many and varied deficiencies, use ‘innit’.

Wonder if a north of Scotland setting would elicit a ‘north British coast’ description? Scotland is ‘British’ too you know.
