Description: A group of stereotypical college students including the token jock, goth girl, druggie, cheerleader, and the kid that tries too hard to fit in, break into an abandoned convent with a history of murder and demonic possession. Their night of partying gets interrupted when a group of gothic satanist wannabe’s accidentally summon the demons back into the convent.
In 1959 a young girl named Christine comes to the convent of St. Francis, with a baseball bat, a shotgun, a cigarette in her mouth and a barrel of gasoline. After a few minutes she goes out – the monastery covered with fire and without a live soul. 40 years later, a group of students burst into the cursed basilica, not realising the horror that awaits them in a convent.
Review: This is an amazing film that balances horror, gore and comedy perfectly without becoming a parody of the genre itself. B-movie veteran Adrienne Barbeau is perfectly cast, as well is rapper turned actor Coolio. This upgrade was ripped from my own DVD and includes the commentary track on dual audio from the “Lords of Hell” aka David Gunn and Kelly Mantle who play the parts of the evil satanists in the movie. The commentary track is hillarious as they remain in character for the duration, and is well worth listening to whilst watching an already excellent movie.
