Description: Eden is the story a young korean girl who was kidnaped by white slave traders and placed in local brothel, to work as a hooker. But she doesn’t loose a hope to get out from this hell. Starring Beau Bridges who also played in other movies.

On one hand this is a socially conscious stab at exposing human trafficking, on the other it’s glossy exploitation. Either way, it’s based on a (substantiated) true story. Jamie Cheung certainly looks the part as the abducted title character – young , beautiful and naive.  She meets a friendly stranger in a bar, who has more on his mind than drinks. He bundles her into a car and pretty soon  she’s trussed up in bondage gear watching her friend get whipped. There’s a problem of transition here: one minute she’s the young innocent and the next she’s giving her client some Chinese trash talk (“What would you like me to do for you honey?) seemingly without going through the process of being fucked.  There is a never any sign of the traumatic experience she mush have gone through, leaving a gaping plot hole which is never adequately filled. Credibility aside, this is a well made film with solid acting especially from Cheung who looks stunning throughout her ordeal.  In short, anyone looking for social realism would be better off with a documentary on the subject, to exploitation fans, it’s a bit of a tease. In you are in the middle, then this is the film for you.
