This freaky multi-genre spectacular has earned a place along side Xanadu and Can’t Stop the Music as a movie musical that is so completely misguided that it must be seen to be believed.
Review: Per request, here’s the release of THE APPLE, one of the foulest musicals ever made. A film, made by Menahem Golan (Death Wish 2) that so infuriated its premiere audience in Hollywood, that – according to legend – they tossed their free souvenir soundtracks at the screen, causing extensive damage. Of course, one glance at the movie’s lurid imagery and just one listen to its god-awful tunes and you, too, will find out why. You’ll also be hypnotized, demonized, paralyzed, and – er – sodomized by this, one of the true cult classics. Now if only someone would upload the rare alternate cut that was reportedly found recently!

Unfortunately the soundtrack is overlaid with commentary by a couple of guys who think they’re a lot funnier than they are. Their constant stream of drivel drowns out a lot of the dialog and lyrics in this magnificent stinker.

The only way it could be better, is if the comedy commentary was optional…so one could enjoy this flatulent flick in it’s entirety as it was meant to be.

The commentary overlaid is by RiffTrax, from the guys who used to do Mystery Science Theatre 3000. For a great insight into Cannon Films, look out for a documentary called “Electric Boogaloo: The Wild Untold Story of Cannon Films”. I just saw it at the Melbourne International Film Festival and it had some astonishing clips from The Apple, which is why I immediately went looking for it. Surpasses the Village People’s “Can’t Stop the Music” as the ultimate cinematic disco fiasco. Original audio would be great. Perhaps as word spreads and demand builds for Menahem Golan’s ‘genuis’, a proper DVD may be forthcoming. I’ll proudly buy it, to place alongside Ninja III: The Domination and Lifeforce.

Have to agree with Max. if you’re a fan of campy, terrible movies like this, try and find a download where these morons aren’t talking over the top of it. They’re not remotely funny but oh boy do they think they are…. Oh look at the tight costumes etc. etc. etc.

i agree with the statements above, this movie is obviously hilarious enough without the stupid stoner comments on top. i wish it came as an alternate audio track.i’ve downloaded a few other old obscurities and discovered, to my annoyance, these idiots talking over the top.
