He wants to make love to one of the managers of the club, competing with another transvestite. But the results of this competition will be terrible.
Excellent work of art. A visual masterpiece. Aesthetic splendor.
This is my first acquaintance with Toshio Matsumoto and definitely not the last. Directing the work here is perfect. The film made a huge impression at least the picture, perhaps even if the movie had no plot, it would be worth a look at least for a visual component. Probably each frame can be hung on the wall and admire it… Yes, that’s fine.
Camera work and filming at height.
The structure of the film also seems very not normal. I am very surprised how they managed to combine so many different approaches and not to lose in the athmosphere. What seemingly should destroy the integrity, inexplicably turns out to be very appropriate for the frame. Yes, I repeat again: Toshio Matsumoto – gorgeous.
The film is very different from the West on this subject, where notably two approaches: either the saturation of the frame genitals (shocking so to speak…), or “soap”, which dominiruut at the Oscars… – Primitivism which presses on the pity/civility/tolerance of the viewer. The Matsumoto is quite different: here the Director is not trying to instill in the viewer the “correct opinion”, does not teach morality – tolerance – it just shows.
Another point I want to note in the film, as it has no genitals. You see, in the movie “like” the main characters is unusual. This is a very happy by the way. Still, it’s 1969. And filmed everything as well, if I may say so. Otherwise, perhaps I would not have appreciated this work.
About the story: he does not disappoint, it’s great and talk about it in a review it would be not correct. Everyone will understand it as a whole and individual moments in the measure of their education/promiscuity/sensitivity/knowledge… etc. etc. Here it is not too simple, not linear for something to say.

Hm..movie about sex don’t have sex, in addition its Japanese of 1969 when everything is/was against law, cultural norms etc. As I mentioned before there are only couple flicks to my taste and best local movies are in internet. It is funny as I go to Japan every year to buy exactly stuff that supposedly outlawed and sold openly in Akihabara, Tokyo. It also nice to know that anything that claim sex as art form sold openly too like Shunga and I have excellent collection.
My guess is Japanese art is in transition period.
