On the train, Catherine meets another passenger, Vincent. Even though he us traveling to Vancouver to meet his girlfriend, Catherine and Vincent grow closer and closer. Eventually, the relationship becomes romantic. As their relationship grows, another passenger is stealing things and leaving them in a different passenger’s room. The film was nominated for 8 Genie awards (then the equivalent of Canadian Oscars,) including one for Kaprisky as best actress.
But despite the film Paul, the more I admire the unusual landscape, beautifully photographed by the operator Pierre Mignot, also enjoying the music of Polish composer Zbigniew Preisner. While French Valerie Kaprisky and canadian Jean-Francois Pichet cast “train lovers” Vincent and Catherine, who survived in a few days of this trip mentioned in the title of the painting “the impulses of desire”, is perceived only as a detail of the surroundings. And being nominated in eight categories for the canadian Kinoproba “Genius”, including for best Director and screenplay, the film “the Impulses of desire” were left without any awards.
