Description: One of the famous paintings of this genre, filmed a master of this school, 34-year-old director Joe Dante (Hollywood Boulevard), who first drew the attention of the film “Piranha” (1978), and then put the popular movie “Gremlins” (1984). “Howl” is about a female television reporter Karen White, who, recovering from the previous contact with the unpleasant maniac, is in the forest rest house in California, where he witnesses a mysterious and even more dangerous events, what’s involved (as it turns out) werewolves.
When compared to the other films on this topic – “An American Werewolf in London” (1981) John Landis, the comparison is still not in favor of Dante. Although his tape is not inferior to the masterful display of turning people into werewolves (on a special make-up Rob Bottini worked as a consultant was Rick Baker, then just worked with Landis). But “The Howling” seems too chamber due to the lack of crowd scenes, so that it seems as if he filmed for television (because after all, was worth only $ 1 million!). And the film does not have the ironic subtext, which gave a certain charm picture of Landis. However, the “Howling” aroused great interest of the audience, then was continued in two tapes director Philippe Mora, one of which (“Howl III») was already a parody, and in three series, created by a little-slave artisans.

THE BEST werewolf flick ever made. Should be in Vampire, Witches and Werewolves section, though.
