Review: The bird with the crystal plumage – one of the first, and remains one of the best films in the style of giallo (a subgenre of Italian horror films, combining elements of crime thriller and erotic).
Slowly descended on Rome thick shroud night, wrapping dark recesses of the eternal darkness of the city, like a blanket of fog. This darkness is mysterious and dangerous, and it is in it, like a phantom, he hid. His hands dressed in gloves and a knife blade so sharp that they can divide the cold air. He expectantly waiting for their prey.
The film “The Bird with the crystal plumage” 1969 is an outstanding feature debut of Italian director, screenwriter and producer Dario Argento (Giallo and The Cat o’ Nine Tails). At the moment, “The Bird with the crystal plumage” became unconditional dzhiallo classic, one of the canonical picture of this especially Italian horror subgenre, masterfully combining elements of detective with unpredictable plot lines and very atmospheric horror in which suspense is injected with powerful camera work and Vittorio Storaro memorable soundtrack, written for the film great Ennio Morricone. “The bird with the crystal plumage” – it is a dynamic and stylish movie in which there is no macabre gloom following works Dario Argento, in which the plot is developed strictly defined line, only distracted by the more complete disclosure of the depths of the main characters.
Acting in the film is simply gorgeous. Tony Musante coped with the role of Sam Dalmas, creating a classic incarnation of the hero detective, bright and charismatic image. Also very memorable characters sang Suzy Kendall and Mario Adorf.
I recommend this delightful film for all fans of Dario Argento and classical giallo and hopefully, the tape will not disappoint you.
