OK, I just realized who would have been the best actress to play the wife in this new version of Straw Dogs. Juno Temple!! She’s currently playing Dottie in “Killer Joe” (a movie which will certainly be available on this site some time in the future I’m sure) and played London in “Kaboom.” She looks enough like the original actress, Susan George, who played the original Straw Dogs wife. Also, Every Juno Temple movie I’ve seen to date has her appreciably naked so she ain’t afraid of a little nudity!!

This movie is a good argument for NOT doing a remake. It lacked ALL the intensity of the original for reasons mentioned (at least in part) above. If you are attempting to remake a masterpiece by a great director like Sam Pekinpah, then, to quote Bart Simpson…. “Try harder Homer!”
