So basically this is a b-movie rehash of Hannie Calder…

From a technical standpoint, Jessi’s Girls is crudely edited and – unless the video mastering is to blame – seems to have been shot predominantly in unappetizing browns and yellows, lending the feature an unhappy resemblance to a badly bruised banana. Don McGinnis’ loping musical score, composed primarily for acoustic guitar, seems at first blush appropriately elegiac but rapidly wears out its welcome, as the same cue is endlessly recycled throughout the film. As regards the story itself, Bud Donnelly’s screenplay is short on sense and long on unlikely coincidence. While its easy to overlook Jessie’s serendipitous encounter (apparently arranged by a benevolent, GPS-sawy God) with her savior – a bearded wise man (played by Rod Cameron, who at that time was of course nearing the end of a long and successful career in westerns), quite why she decides to attack a prison wagon isn’t made clear, and the ease with which the female foursome bond and settle on a plan of action is far-fetched at best.
Compared to most of director Adamson’s output (a.o. such memorable titles as Satan’s Sadists and I Spit On Your Corpse), Jessi’s Girls is relatively mundane fare, but no one would ever mistake it for anything more than the work of a journeyman without much nostalgia value. (unless you are a sex(ploitation) western fan or are still waiting for another Hannie Caulder sequel).
Nonetheless, the Adamson name has some cachet amongst a certain subset of film fans, and for them WIP Films has done a great job. The upload is free of major blemishes or cuts. You get an original full copy in which you can easily discern the shapely contours of Jessica’s unclothed and well-toned physique, since Sondra Currie (who was something of a ‘B’ movie queen for a few years in the mid 1970s) gets completely nude in the lead role. Plus you have some nice shots of Al Adamson’s wife (Regina Carrol) and starlet Ellyn Stern who willingly lend their T & A to this flick. And for those who it’s their cup of tea, there is of course the full-length and rather graphic gang-rape scene of Sondra Currie.
Whether you will thrill of delight or shudder of horror after seeing Jessi’s Girls, depends very much on your own taste and probably your state of mind, but fact remains that Jessi’s Girls is a rather rare and not easily found movie on the internet. So for that and the fact that it is in full running time, WIP Films deserves our gratitude. Thanks for all your time and work.
