The thieves referred to are quite an odd, ragtag bunch. They consist of a bearded angry black man, a meek stuttering guy who resembles a grade school science teacher, a tough talking short-haired hispanic woman a la Aliens, and Gil, a ranting, raving, lunatic who has the habit of talking to himself and who is deathly afraid of flying insects.
