Description:
Abandoning her life working at a gas station in a small town in New Hampshire, naive, 18-year Alice (Grace) drives in her old, cheap car to Florida to join her friend Julie in college in Miami. On the way, Alice meets a middle-aged couple, Bill (Raymond) and Sandra (Ivey), at a rest stop only to discover that someone has punctured her tire. Bill changes her tire for her; she follows them on the road, until her car breaks down. Since it would cost more to repair the car than to buy a new one, Alice accepts a ride to Florida with Bill and Sandra in their CV. After winning Alice’s trust, they introduce her to the world of truck-stop prostitution, teaching her that she can earn more money as a prostitute than she ever had in New Hampshire. Alice is faced with choices.
This movie, which won the special jury prize at the Sundance film festival, features excellent performances and is notable for its soundtrack.
