All the film is set in the same yard, located in the slums of Manila. The relationship between the people living here are not much different from family: the life of each and every is literally before the eyes of the neighbors, they meet together holidays together doing simple housework, etc, etc. — something akin to a communal apartment in the Soviet past. And only one couple lives apart from the others. The man, unlike most of the inhabitants of the courtyard, has a constant job and disappears for days, and his beautiful wife dreams of a better life, and shuns their neighbors, trying as little as possible out of their own closets. The beauty of a woman haunts the young student Danny, who lives upstairs. Through cracks in the ceiling he can watch everything going on in the lower room, from time to time satisfied with voyeurism. But the day comes when the young man dares to disturb the peace of the beauties from the bottom in the afternoon hours of rest…
