Description: A tough realistic war film that went to number 3 in the UK video charts, centres around a small Platoon and some new replacements at a remote fire base in Vietnam. The Platoon are sent relentlessly on search and destroy missions. They are led by a young Lieutenant who hunts the V.C. with dedicated ruthlessness.
On one particular mission the Platoon move into a village catching and killing a band of Viet Cong, and destroying an arms cache. As the Platoon move out of the village they discover they are surrounded by battalion strength V.C.. They make for a rendezvous point where they will be lifted out by helicopter, they manage to fight thier way to the helicopter pick up, but by then the handful of men left become trapped at the bottom of a ravine.
HOW SLEEP THE BRAVE was one of the very few Vietnam war pictures shiot in England. It was filmed in woodland around Gerrards Cross and Knowl Hill in Berkshire. This enabled director Lindsay Shonteff to get the bus home at night. Unfortunately, it was made and released at a time when nobody in the USA would touch a picture about the Vietnam conflict.
