Bôizu on za ran (original title) Run time: Rating: 6.7 Genres: Comedy,Drama Director: Daisuke Miura
Storyline Toshiyuki Tanishi (Mr Tanishi) is a 29-year-old chronic masturbator and toy vending machine salesman – he is socially awkward and down on his luck. Things change when he meets Chiharu a pretty woman who might actually be into him. Unfortunately, he has competition for Chiharu’s affection from handsome, rival vending salesman Aoyama. Written by Alex L This kind of story has been done over and over: boy meets girl, boy gets to date girl, boy loses girl and usually by the end they are back together again to let everybody have the happy ending they wanted. Not so with this Japanese movie! I came into this movie thinking it was some kind of a laugh-out-loud sex comedy but it wasn’t. It’s more of an movie where the geek tries to win the heart of the girl he loves but he keeps making bad decisions which will make you cringe and shout at the screen “NO, don’t do that, you’ll only make things worse”. You’ve heard of the feel-good movie, well this is the opposite – the feel-bad movie!! By the time the end credits have come around you will feel sorry for Tanishi as he goes through a lot over the 114 minute running time of the movie. The message being is that even though you might think everything you plan will come off as smoothly as you had hoped, in reality things don’t necessary always work out that way
