Montenegro

In this off-beat comedy in which animals serve as foils to humans, Marilyn Jordan (Susan Anspach) is a bored, sexually-frustrated, American housewife who lives in Stockholm with her staid husband, a rich Swedish businessman who is gone too often on business, her peculiar father-in law who fancies himself to be Buffalo Bill, and her two children. Frustrated with her boring life, she engages in a series of unorthodox activities which liven things up. As a result of her bizarre behavior, her husband gets a psychiatrist to see her, but that does not help matters. Eventually, she goes with her husband on a business trip but gets detained by security at the airport. After missing her plane, she falls in with a group of Yugoslavian immigrants who take her to a night club called “Zanzi-Bar.” There, she is immersed in a surreal world of gluttony, drink, violence and free attitudes toward sex. Marilyn joins in the activities of this vibrant world, where she has passionate sex with a handsome young zookeeper named Montenegro. After spending the night with Montenegro, Marilyn decides to go home, but takes some horrifying actions in the process.
