Storyline Butcher Boys tries to be another cannibalistic-type cult movies and horribly fails. It is just another series of sloppy borrowed ideas. It starts out with a group of friends celebrating one member’s birthday, while a brother and sister duo attempt to deal with their friend’s girlfriend. While driving home, they’re pursued by a car driven by two now angry boys, after the girlfriend starts a fight with them at a gas station. The main theme of the movie is the unquestioned existence of psychopaths who view people as a source of income and food. | |

This film can definitely seem derivative of the Texas Chainsaw franchise as mentioned in the above review, but that’s for a good reason.
“Butcher Boys” was written by the co-writer of the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Kim Henkel. This script originally was written to be a rebooted sequel to the original of the franchise, but they instead went with the Alexandria Daddario TCM reboot.
So Henkel took the script, changed the character namesto avoid a lawsuit, and THAT is what Butcher Boys is.
So if you are a fan of any of the TCM movies, I suggest giving this a chance, if nothing else to see a slightly different version of what might have been.
This film isn’t the best, but I actually liked it, and it’s much better than TCM 3,4 or the second batch of reboots.
