Description: The Backlot Murders is an updated variation of the 1976 comedy-thriller, Hollywood Boulevard. A rock band, on the brink of success, arrives at a movie studio to produce their first music video. Somebody doesn’t have much respect for their talent, and starts bumping off members of the band, their groupie girlfriends, and the crew. The formulaic “final girl” is so grating, you might find yourself cheering on the unmasked killer.
Despite the low IMDB rating, I found this slice n’ dice slasher flick a cut above average. The babes are smokin’ hot, and there’s plenty of on screen murderous mayhem. While most of the “comedy” falls flat, The Backlot Murders is enjoyable as a bloody mystery-thriller with a sense of humor.
