This old-fashioned “who done it” stars Liam Neeson and Laura San Giacomo. In 1959 Brighton, England, a disgraced cop turned private detective, Tony Aaron (Neeson,) works largely on staging and photographing fake adulteries to provide grounds for divorce proceedings, sometimes using his wife, an actress, as the “paramour.” In one case, he uses his wife, purportedly as the lover of wealthy painter, Carlo Stasio, but finds the naked pair – shot dead – in a hotel room. Tony’s ex-partner, Frank, who is still on the Brighton police force, is assigned to the case. His most likely suspects are Stasio’s mistress, Angeline (San Giacomo,) who is to inherit Stasio’s valuable art, and Tony himself, parts of whose story don’t seem to add up.
