Description: Poor Suzie is not the brightest hooker walking the streets, she gets caught when she tries to steal a tricks money, she sucks off a storeclerk for just one can of catfood and ten packs of sugar. When she’s about to do her business she either cries or vomits. But still, she’s got a big heart… Directed by Tony Marsiglia (who also filmed Sin Sisters and Chantal) and starring Wendy McColm as Suzie.
This movie is the story of a teenager, Suzie, ( wonderfully acted by 23-year-old Carice van Houten) and her weird family. Her jobless father, a financial failure, is a dirty old man who abuses Suzy. One weird brother, knife-carrying, emotionally-disturbed Zwier, is very depressed and, too, approaches Suzy sexually. A second weird brother, Palmer, stays in his room playing his electric guitar when he is at home, but won’t let Suzie sing with his band. Suzie’s naive mother doesn’t know what to do about the situation and tries to be oblivious to it. The whole story takes place during one weekend in the 1960s. After that weekend nothing will be the same. Director Martin Koolhoven has made one of the best Dutch films ever.
