Review: “Eastern Promises” – thriller script written by Oscar nominee and the author of “Dirty Pretty Things” by Stephen Knight. Thriller in which he again go hand in hand, David Cronenberg (director of such films as “Scanners” “The Fly” and “Crash”) and Viggo Mortensen (star of “The Lord of the Rings” and “A History of Violence”).
As in the previous work in this film Cronenberg and Mortensen show clash of the average person from the big city to the world of criminal organizations, in this case with the Russian mafia. Whose normal appearance in the movie, are reduced to the standard status of villains – a Kalashnikov and a bottle of vodka. But not this time – Cronenberg studied in detail (as usual) inside story of Russian criminal, sources unfortunately are not specified. So much so that for a test viewing for our authorities, the film won plaudits. How else – even if tattoos fit the camp of the “concept.” Complete picture of tattoos on the body is a collective image of Viggo, where fragments are memorable for consultants stories of their lives (in places not so remote).
