  Drying Up the Streets (1978)–Gritty teen runaway drama from the late ’70s about a ex-junkie father who searches for his 16-year old amid the pimps, prostitutes, child pornographers and drug dealers in the seedy side of Toronto. He is also enlisted by the police to break up the major drug ring. Less an exploitation film and certainly quite gritty, every bit as similar to the Paul Shrader film “Hardcore” which wasn’t released until the next year. Also similar to the down beat drive-in film “Street Girls” from ’74. Filmmed very authentically on the seedy streets on Toronto.
