Description: S.F. Brownrigg may not have made many films but his output was consistent and for the most part solid. Don’t Open the Door merits comparison with other titles in his psychotronic oeuvre, –Don’t Look in the Basement, Scum of the Earth, and Keep my Grave Open– even if such comparison might just go to show those movies in a better light.

As well as forming part of the movie-marketing tradition telling its viewers what not to do (‘go in the house’, or ‘near the park’ or ‘in the woods…alone!’ or ‘answer the phone’ or ‘open the window,’) this flick is also notable for its Profondo Rosso-style creepy doll imagery as well as its use of the well-worn “creepo-taunts-victim-over-the-phone” motif.

Review: In the seventies and eighties, it was fashionable to shoot slasher with names , cautioning not to do this or that . “Do not go into the house ,” ” Do not answer a call ,” ” Do not be afraid of darkness “, ” Do not look in the basement ” … For the sake of completeness is not enough to remove except that “I do not get in the car “, ” Do not switch on the light ,” or ” Do not do nothing at all . ” But here was filmed ” Do not open that door.”

This film was born in 1975 , but something did not grow together , and with cries of a newborn has been sent to the shelf , where lay for four years. During the journey , they say, the dog may grow up – started a real boom in the slasher and producers have realized that a good idea to put all the same to hire a stray picture.

Here are just a small incident out – for four years lying baby has not grown and strengthened . and vice versa – skukozhilas and shrunk . Still, he was admitted to the theater . It is not clear why.

The whole point is that the “Do not open the door ” is not a slasher rather thriller. One of those that were shot in batches for American TV . The story here is about a girl whose mother had killed someone right in the bedroom. It took thirteen years. The girl grew up with a girl and came back in the same house , because the need to look after a sick grandma . However, it soon began to ring out telephone calls. The caller alludes to the girl that it can not wait for the same fate as her mother.

Filmed in the mid-70 ‘s, ” Do not open that door ” looks ten years or so older. It feels like the director is about to have mastered the wonders of Technicolor and directed the film . No blackjack and hookers . But with dolls. In principle, the sixties does not spoil the view of the picture , the thing is that by the time the horror began to gain brutality Drive. In the aforesaid tape have nothing. It’s a bit of blood , a little murder and no special effects. Almost all of half an hour timekeeping – chatter about nothing.

What unequivocally good in the movie – so it’s music and camera work . And the director is quite good, is able to create a no style, but in suspense , alas , this style can not hold . Intimidate – even more so. Actors are , in principle, on the level of TV plays , there is nothing supernatural . Glavgeroinya sometimes quite bad. On the subject of the question , even – yes chatter continuous phone calls . Identity of the killer is traced almost immediately , and the authors are not something that would be hard keeping it a secret.

Very sad movie. If the front of the name to label flaunted (TV ), then I would have understood and would increase the assessment on the film score. But by the standards of cinema is a very weak picture .
