Description: Apparently Chuck Vincent, the producer and director of ”Deranged,” doesn’t want to be thought of as a sleazy guy. The production notes delicately describe him as a maker of ”quality porn” movies (”Jack and Jill,” Parts I and II) whose latest is a straight suspense film. ”Deranged” proves you can dress Mr. Vincent’s films up but you can’t take them out.
Joyce is prone to hearing voices ”since Daddy died.” When she is attacked by an intruder in her apartment, she kills him with a quick jab of her scissors. But she is, of all things, deranged (apparently Mr. Vincent doesn’t want to be thought of as a subtle guy) so we know she won’t call the police. She sits around her apartment, receiving an occasional visit from the deli deliveryman, reliving scenes from her past. Her old therapist, her vicious mother and her suicidal father all show up as visions in the apartment. This may not be psychologically astute, but it is conspicuously cheap; most of the movie takes place on a single set.

I’ve never seen this film before… I’m a fan of director Chuck Vincent… and this is not his best work… his most bizarre, yes! I give kudos to Jane Hamilton aka Veronica hart for a seriously, insane performance… a bit over the top. Jamie Gilles, as Daddy, was dark as he usually plays in all his films… Gillis usually always has the same expression, and tone in his roles… and it usually works.
Jerry butler has a medium role as frank, does well as to be expected with mild time on screen… does his best… The ending is kind of creepy, but all in all, a decent enough twisted psychological film…
