A good story (French with subtitles) about a 14 year old girl experimenting with relationships and wanting her first time. Nothing explicit. Very little sex — lots of talking. Sexy because of her inexperienced desire that she does not know how to deal with. Well written and acted, realistic, touching. Delphine Zentout played the main character, “Lili”. The actress was born 1974 according to IMDB. So she was really 14! We see her breasts and a little of her pubic hair.

Catherine Breillat sure is one fine director. Her movies are very strong, unsettling and engaging. I can’t help wondering how she got to be the kind of director she is. Did she face a lot of dark shades of life at a tender age, when she was in the hands of under-age photographer/director David Hamilton?
