Description: In 2001, Troma gave a budget of around $200,000 to former Playboy Playmate Of The Year turned director India Allen to produce a series of digital films and a TV pilot for their website. Over a year later, the footage they received was deemed unwatchable and, even by Troma standards, could not be released. The films were unfinished and the entire budget had been spent. In an effort to recoup some of their investment, the script was rewritten and Lloyd Kaufman (he directed Night of the Chicken Dead in 2006 and was an actor in such trash flick as Meat Weed America in 2007) and editor Gabe Friedman ordered extensive re-shoots to find some use for the footage already shot. The re-shoots proved equal as unsuccessful, with few of the shots ordered being filmed or being shot without sound by incompetent (but also unpaid) crew members. After years of post-production, in a final effort to salvage something, much of the original dialogue was comically overdubbed. Cameos were filmed with Trey Parker, James Gunn, Eli Roth and Ted Raimi. Framing devices such as fake newscasts, fake audio commentaries, wrap-around segments, scrolling text and sarcastic off-screen dialogue were used to form some semblance of a plot. And in an effort to further distract viewers from the still tedious final product, Troma also added “Boner Vision” a pop up screen featuring topless women.
Shorter, in regards to the usual Troma “making of” docs, but then again, this one is for the infamous disaster they created out of a couple botched previous attempts at a movie. It’s got Wes Craven, Ted Raimi, Trey Parker, etc. shown filming their scenes, and the usual “Lloyd Kaufman screaming at crewmembers” footage we’ve grown accustomed to. If you’ve seen any previous Troma behind the scenes vids, it’s more of the same, and you of course feel sorry for all involved.
