| Storyline eldom seen African American action oater with Max “The Mack” Julien and Vonetta “Melinda” McGee kicking cracker ass and taking no honky prisoners as the old west’s answer to Bonnie and Clyde. Alternately gritty, goofy, gleefully anachronistic (replete with ‘70s urban slang and Julien’s ready for Soul Train Afro ‘do) and genuinely moving.Unsurprisingly, Quentin Tarantino digs this film plenty; in fact, he recently programmed it at his Los Angeles revival house, the New Beverly Cinema, on a double bill w/DJANGO UNCHAINED. | |
