Review: The back cover of “Hex” sums it up rather nicely. WWI vets riding across the heartland on motorcycles (which in those days were light on the motor and heavy on the cycle) run afoul of local yokels and half-breed shaman sisters. Gary Busey gets wired on loco weed, tries to force his attention on the younger of the two siblings and the oldest takes serious offense. She takes up her father’s old medicine-man mojo and exacts revenge upon the group. Bad times ensue.
Keith Carradine, Scott Glenn, Gary Busey and Dan Haggerty headline this weird cast of characters. IMDB has a listing for John Carradine as Old Gunfighter but if he’s in this movie, he’s damn well hidden. He’s not listed on the video credits either. If anyone happens to spot him, please let me know.

A strange western that is as mesmerizing as it is amusing. Enjoyable on so many levels, and with a great cast…it’s hard not to love this movie. The ending comes out of nowhere, and leaves you with a ‘WTF just happened?’ kind of feeling.

The lesson to be learned from this philosophical meditation on celluloid is simple, Don’t Piss Off The Bingo Hall Bitches. If you have not yet learned this valuable life lesson, let the WWI vets, led by Kwai Chang Cain, Buddy Holly, and Grizzley Adams ‘splain it to you. And, oh yah, stay the hell away from that wacky tabaccy, it’s make ya rape the yunguns ya know. In this case though, it wasn’t the weed, it was just the real Gary Busey showing through his character, he’s one turbo crazy xtian promise keeper that one, but we love him for it. Wait, is this s Biker Flick, hmm, bikes, drugs, boobs, brawls, booze, busted, bimbos, and bingo, yup, all the elements are there, love it and then vote for the new Biker/JD/Blaxploitation category, you always feel better when you vote.
