Description: A kindly old grandfather is actually the leader of a murderous satanic cult which sacrifices its victims on Halloween.
Originally filmed as DEATH MASK, then released to video as HACK-O-LANTERN, then re-released to video once more, 1988’s HALLOWEEN NIGHT has since become an underground cult favorite, with copies of the rare title reaching the illustrious $100 mark on eBay whenever one comes-a-callin’. The film – the second American venture from late Indian filmmaker Jag Mundhra – finds a gravely-voiced farmer (the great Hy Pyke, whom you can see fully nude in Dolemite, thank you) as the leader of a local Satanic cult, who attempts to mold his grandson Tommy (Gregory Scott Cummins) in his own evil image. Wonderfully bad heavy metal tunes, more than the occasional flash of skin, the frequent slash of skin, and other low-budget charms highlight this, a seasonal must-have.

Halloween Night vs Hack-O-Lantern. Halloween Night is 3 minute shorter but with better video quality while the vhs rip of Hack-O-Lantern looks like shit at times with the image messing up. The copy you put up is nicer quality but is missing 3 minutes. Now is this something to do with the intro or credits being shorter or is the vhs copy uncut? I’m trying to decide which version I will watch. This confuses me…
