Description: Emoh Ruo is for anyone who’s about to buy their first home. And it’s just as much fun if you’re already a home owner with a mortgage and an eye on interest rates, or a contented tenant tolerating a snarling landlord. Emoh Ruo (it makes more sense if you say it backwards) is a very funny Australian film about the Great Australian Dream turning into a Great Australian Nightmare. The Tunkleys – Joy Smithers and Martin Sacks have taken the first big step to make their dream come true. They have signed on the dotted line for the construction of their very own home. Now all they have to do is get ready to move on in. Or so they imagine. Instead they’ve just jumped into a pool of sharks hungry for their dollars – and it’s a long, long swim to the other end.
OR
A “typical” not so wealthy young couple with child live in a caravan in a wealthy Sydney suburb. After an unfortunate incident, and after being seduced by an immensely funny parody of a TV Home Loan commercial, they decide to build a “dream home” of their own. Being completely innocent of such matters, they therefore become victims of builders, real estate salesmen, the bank, of tradition, of society, and even of their own families.
