Submission

This 1976 Italian, erotic  drama with English subtitles is set in France in 1940, just as the Germans are invading the country.  In it,  Eliane Michaud, who  lives with her dull, academic, intellectual husband and her pretty, teenage daughter, is trapped in a sexually-unfulfilling marriage. When Eliane hires a new employee at her pharmacy, Armond, he forces himself on her,  something to which she is receptive, becoming sexually submissive to him.  As the Germans approach, the sexual relationship between them becomes increasingly dark.  Eliane’s new lover is not satisfied with having only her satisfy his sexual needs, so he brings other people into the relationship.  That creates a whole new set of problems for the submissive Elaine.

Note:  The International English name of this movie – the one it is listed under in IMDB  and Rotten Tomatoes –    is “Submission.”
