Review: Nice little version of the famous Venus in Furs story. I suspect a lot of peple will find it a little bit too arty and slow for its own good (which it is), but the atmospheric black and white cinematography is pretty nice. Also, it does a great job in capturing the sensual masochistic world of Leopold von Sacher Masoch, which is (according to Deleuze at least) the exact opposite of the sadism of Marquis De Sade (compare this film with Pasolini’s ‘Salo’ for example and you should get an idea of the differences between masochism and sadism (S/M is more or less a contradictio in terminis according to this theory).

I was wondering, despite spoiling us with some wonderful gems, if you have access to ‘Venus in Furs'(a.k.a : Devil in the Flesh) the Massimo Dallamano 1970 version – it has been released in the U.K in a censored print (woman appears to start to enjoy the violation – a big no, no in the U.K) . To see the original version uncut and with either english subs or even ‘grudgingly’ a dubbed version (beggars can’t be choosers) would be brilliant.

Yeah, sure. I will publish it tomorrow. I can publish it in english version, but I don’t know if it’s uncut or no. Plus I can get a good uncut version in italian language, but without any subs

Oooooo, you little star ! Thank you – saw this today and was over the moon. If this is the BBFC 18 rated version from Shameless as per the video/dvd jacket then it will be the U.K release . That is so annoying that you have an uncut version but no subs . I will keep an eye out for the subs and let you know if I have any luck . I am still going to take a look at this though – once again many , many thanks.
