Description: The narrative of Lilith, who is claimed to be the first woman created before Eve, tells of her rebellion against Adam and subsequent exile from Eden. In response to Adam replacing her with Eve, Lilith seeks vengeance upon their descendants perpetually. Channeling her fury, Lilith returns, incarnated through the bodies of deceased women, evolving into a fatally attractive symbol of retribution, and boasts of being the inaugural femicide in history. The concept of a spurned woman’s rebuttal strikes a chord with the filmmakers. This tale, which intertwines myth with a dash of gritty realism, portrays a stunning yet malevolent embodiment of evil capable of unspeakable acts. This mystical narrative sheds light on human flaws that are too often overlooked. Avoiding a deep dive into the specifics of the plot and character experiences, the film presents an equivocal take on the perennial clash between virtue and vice, eschewing the classic happily-ever-after for a harsher truth: the innate nature of vice and evil in humanity that persists as long as it resides within us. The mantra suggested is: true goodness provides immunity against malice. As for its role within the horror genre, the “angel of evil” captured my affection. While I typically find horror movies more humorous than hair-raising, this one genuinely delivered frights without resorting to cheap thrills or excessive shock value. It’s worth a viewing, if for nothing else than to appreciate the allure of the charismatic Christopher Shepard.
