Review: The only version that is readily available, although rare within its own respects, is the PG [cut-version] which I own. The R rated version was never released in theaters or to the public. That ‘version’ doesn’t actually exist yet as far as a re-mastered print with sound [in which there was no sound found from the footage back in 1999]. I checked a particular forum by the name of ‘HOME THEATER FORUM.’ They actually were in a chatting with Warner Bros. [who also have an extensive library of a great bit of some of the ‘grindhouse’ trailers that you’ve seen here on the site]. They brought up a question about when both House & Night of Dark Shadows would be released and replied that there won’t a release for sometime soon. Also, when questioned about the recent lost footage of Dan Curtis’ original cut, one of the Warner Bros. chatters responded to the like of ‘we just heard of this for the first time’ without any knowledge that there was an existing film print. Not implying that they did or did not know of the existing footage, just a quoted statement. Although, if they do have knowledge and / or footage in their possession, then it’s a damn shame that they would try to bury that behind so that old and new fans [and just consumers in general] won’t be able to view such once popular soap series like Passions or whatever the hell that’s on TV these days. If so, then this is one of several reasons why you [that means us lovers of trash cinema] won’t see official releases of such films. That also goes to the other major studios, with a couple of exceptions. Sony and MGM/Fox have been starting to release a great bit of these gems to retail. Sorry about the riff, but I’m sure everyone here understand.
