Alice in Wasteland is an imaginative retelling of Lewis Carroll’s novel Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. The plot for Alice in Wasteland facilities around a youthful girl called Alice Wynn whose friends lead her down the wrong course.
The visual design for Alice in Wasteland has a 1970s action/exploitation feel to it. The violence in the film is done in tongue and cheek way that lends itself to Alice’s ever evolving horror. The movie is filled with bigger than life figures like a psychopath cop named Jill Robbe who is so hell bent on recording Alice, that she kills anyone who gets in her way. Other colorful figures are a pimp called Ramrod and a Swedish femme fatale whom steals every scene she’s in. Efficiency smart all of the cast dive in mind over heels into their particular roles. The casts gung ho mindset towards the material is transmittable. Eventually Alice in Wasteland is a sturdy exploitation movie that plays to its strengths, girls, guns and mayhem.
