Description: may 23, 2014 in Sunny Santa Barbara twenty-two year old Elliot Roger stabbed her three flatmates, then armed with firearms and went to the building of the University of California, special attention to the home, which was located in the local women’s community, where he killed two women and wounded one, after which he continued hunting on ordinary citizens, zastrelim student male and injuring several bystanders. In this case, to answer the eternal question: “Why?” inevitable after any mass killing, especially of bloodshed committed such a young man, will not journalists, psychologists, parents, friends, acquaintances, murderers, and the Elliott Roger, who left behind not only a long trail of blood and pain, but also its version of the incident, which, according to his idea, will continue to meet even after the suicide. “Humanity… All my pain and suffering in this world is caused by people, especially women. I just wanted to fit in and live happily among the people, but I was rejected, because women are not seen in me values. This tragedy could not happen. I didn’t want all this happened, but humanity has forced me,” wrote Elliot Roger at the beginning of his manifest one hundred and forty pages, telling how happy and full of hope child he turned into a cold-blooded killer. The film of a young Director Edward Payson, telling rejected by society seventeen-year-old pupil, who opened the hunt for refusing to see his classmate, and left behind video Manifesto, denouncing hypocrisy and lies behind the facade of the local high school, which were especially prevalent among the female population, saw the light two years before Elliott Roger made his bloody massacre. And despite the many similarities between the fictional hero of Payson real Roger, the Director is not a prophet – he just managed in time and correctly grasp the theme of the mass killings, which every year becomes more and criminals are getting younger, and try to understand what is going on in the minds of people who believe that suffered from the world so much that can pick up his human life in return.

Immediately after the release of “the Cohasset Snuff Film” caused a stir on the Internet when the audience tried to figure out, was it real what they saw, and the Director at that time actively stirred up the interest of the public, stating that the authorities of a small Massachusetts town, the inhabitants of which received their fifteen minutes of fame, denying the reality of the history of the serial killer by the name of Colleen Mason, contacted him and expressed extreme concern that his picture could trigger a wave of killings in the area. Picture of Payson recalls that the majority of works in the genre of mockumentary would be called more pseudoreality” than the pseudo-movies, because they mimic the sensation of reality, using techniques that are not common in the documentary, instead of building a film on the laws do not feature films. In the third feature film by Edward Payson, he took off on the Internet, and reworked them personally scenario, combined traits of his previous two works, the first of which was a horror film, and the second documentary picture. “The Cohasset Snuff Film” is built on the classical canons of tape about this crime, which usually combines home recordings and pictures of the killer, starting with childhood and ending with the last moments of his life, interviews with the various participants of the notorious events and the opinions of respected persons. But the main thing in the work of Edward Payson that he can reproduce not only the form of the documentary, but also its content, which is intended to reflect the viewer about those facets of the issue that the press usually silent. Incidentally, the author has not been spared the impact of the cult of serial and mass murderers, who, heated keen to sensations press, actively thrives among inexperienced teenagers, and quite adults, people with unstable mentality, and calls to distinguish between simple interest to protect themselves and to prevent future instances, and the erection of these people to the status of heroes.

Elliot Roger was not the first and will not be the last, and if you look at the history of every modern mass murderers, then you are sure to find something that went wrong – he can be loving parents, but the difficult situation in communicating with peers at school, or Vice versa, he may well get along with people, but to be a burden for relatives who do not need it. You will always be able to find the signs, signals, and sometimes even explicit statements about the planned crime that no one is taken seriously. “The Cohasset Snuff Film” tells the story of a man whose mental problems were ignored from an early age and progressed rapidly, resulting in a very disturbing situation that consistently continued to ignore his surroundings. The Director and the author of the original script showed not only excellent knowledge of the psychology of mass murderers, but also managed in a simple and accessible way to bring them in his film, which has found the perfect balance between sympathy of how this boy was in their innocent years, and the understanding that he could not be, and repugnance as he appeared in his farewell video man, accusing all others of hypocrisy, but not able to see that he has moved on to much greater hypocrisy than all those who did not notice him, no longer able to feel and experience, and having the courage only to continue its performance, which will not make him happy, after all, the inevitable outcome will be his own death as murder will not make less violent world, from which he tried to escape.
