Description: I grew up on these films in my teenage years, but my memories of them are of shitty p&s VHS copies, though i did manage to see nearly every slasher flick at my local cinema (i was tall for my age). It needed a Savini to up the haemoglobin quota.

The accidental death of Robin Anne Hammond sets a series of revenge murders in motion six years later. The accused murderer escapes just in time for the prom and all of the students are fair game. Can the killer be stopped? Download this slasher to find out.

Review: For 1980, the idea of the youth slasher was in his own original. Five children were playing hide and seek in an abandoned house, and as a result of the accident, one girl fell out of the window to her death. The other children, fearing potential liability, collectively decided not to tell no one. And six years later, when the boys grew up to graduate, the day before the prom each of them received an ominous phone call …

Just want to note that the “Prom Night” was released 3 years before another popular youth horror “on Greek Street …” where the girl student accidentally killed the Commandant hostel and decided to cover up the crime. And of course, “Prom Night” was popular long before the “horror” – “I know what you did last summer …”, which adopted a similar plot motif.

After the strings, it seems that the “Prom Night” will repeat the legendary “Halloween” by John Carpenter in 1978, as the story goes sharply towards the psychopathic killer escape from a psychiatric hospital, who wants to “go home.” And if that were the case, then the “Prom Night” would be just a clone of “All Saints’ Day” and nothing more. But luckily, the script “Ball” will be not so obvious, and will present to the delight of the audience a couple of spectacular tricks. In general, for a youth slasher, a detective from the line of Paul Lynch tape is very good, and the intrigue about the personality of the “murderer” is preserved until the very end.

To a greater extent with the picture of Carpenter’s “The Night prom” in common narrative structure in terms of violence. So, in Paul Lynch, like “Halloween” massacre begins in the last third, and the first two-thirds – forcing voltage. Of course, part of the suspense Lynch is far from Carpenter, but visually “Prom” turned out far more bloody than “Halloween.”

A more striking is the fact that the female lead in “Halloween”, and the “Prom Night” performed Jamie Lee Curtis. Personally, in my opinion, the film is Jamie Carpenter much more expressive, but in the film Lynch, a young actress at the time, shows high class acting.

In addition to Curtis, not home, but a significant role in the film plays the legendary American comedian Leslie Nielsen (Snatched). In 1980, Leslie has not yet managed to find their crowning role and performed a variety of roles. Here and there Nielsen in an unusual way for a modern audience “serious” school director. Unremarkable, but convincingly played the character.

In general, “Prom Night”, unexpectedly successful in every sense of the film, which is fun to watch, even when it is not okay. “Live” characters, amusing dialogue, masterful camera work in conjunction with an intense soundtrack create an interesting spectacle. But the main achievement of the tape – this is a spectacular and dramatic denouement strong finale. Just after that ending, when you saw it and felt, you know that it is not wasted half an hour of life.
