Description: As a special Easter treat, here is one peculiar little film from Troma. Actium Maximus is quite a surreal experience. I’ll copy/paste an imdb description of what the plot is supposed to be below, but I can assure you that the film makes no sense at all. It’s one very long insane trip. One can only admire the irrational outburst of human creativity that went into this monster of a film (and especially the mindbendingly colorful sunday-afternoon visual effects). It’s a masterpiece of haptic new-flesh cinema, and is probably (even) more rewarding if you approach it as a Brakhage film than as mere sci-fi trash. Highly recommended.
Carnival Actium Maximus congratulates you with the opening of another exciting season. You will find a few circuses and exciting games, the troups are extremely diverse. The audience will get what you waited for, and the rates will be higher than ever. With the opening of Actium Maximus you, of course, already waiting the first night of carnival, with dances performed by Titanides. Every year Titanides are let out to freely roam the Boulevard Polposa, where they run along the street among the brave thrill-seekers to the Palace.
