Whispers in the Dark

In this American erotic thriller with a star-studded cast,  a New York  psychiatrist, Anne Hecker ( Anabella Sciora),  is helping a sexy patient, Eve Abergray  (Deborah Unger), who  arouses Hecker with graphic descriptions of participating in bondage sex with with her new lover, a dominant man.   Her sexy stories affect Hecker’s dreams.  She has a recurring dream of a sexy woman making love, but the woman in her dream is her patient, Eve.   As a result,   Eve seeks therapy of her own,turning to her old therapist, Leo Green (Alan Alda.)

It turns out that  Eve’s new lover is a charter airline pilot, Doug McDowell, whom Hecker has just started dating and with whom she has been having sex. After  figuring this out and realizing that she has a conflict but not wanting to abandon Eve, Hecker seeks the advice of her old friends and confidants, the psychiatrist she has been seeing,  Leo Green, and his wife, Sarah (Jill Clayburgh), also a psychiatrist, who have known her since she was a student. Before Hecker can deal with the conflict, however, Eve is murdered. Evidence indicates that McDowell is the killer, but the police have an additional suspect – another patient of Hecker’s, a sinister Latino artist who has a violent history toward women. Is McDowell  a murderer who is a threat to Hecker’s life or is he someone she can love?
