Description: Indian Johnny Firecloud (Victor Mohica) lives in a small Western town. He’s constantly being tormented by Colby (Ralph Meeker) and his gang of friends who basically run the town. Things escalate–Johnny is beaten up repeatedly and whipped, his grandfather is publicly humiliated and lynched and a female friend of his is raped to death. Johnny explodes and hunts down Colby’s friends and extracts some very bloody revenge…
David F. Friedman (Devil’s Bloody Playthings) is mostly known for producing godawful softcore sexploiters and the early Herschell Gordon Lewis (Gore Gore Girls) gore flicks, but here’s a solid ’70s action flick with his name high in the credits. This is an unholy mix of Billy Jack, Sergio Leone, and ’70s cop shows, featuring a seriously pissed off Indian, Sacheen Littlefeather’s wretched boob job, a closeted sheriff, and a gaggle of broadly-drawn rednecks. Unlike Friedman’s usual bargain-basement crud, this is well directed, scripted, and acted, but still a monument of ’70s “how the fuck did this get made?!” bad taste. My rip includes the commentary track from Friedman, which wildly veers off-course numerous times. Enjoy!
