Description:

This might be one of the weirdest and many unique films I’ve ever seen. It’s artsploitation, and like many artsploitation, its art is questionable. In the end, though, we judged that it had been more art than exploitation. Other individuals, and probably the vast majority, would probably feel the opposite. A shy young guy follows a team of men whom are dragging a woman as much as his apartment building’s roof. He watches quietly as they rape the girl. When she awakes in the morning, she asks him to kill the girl, for she’s too unhappy to live. We discover that he himself is suicidal, and that he harbors a deep fear and curiosity around sex, which has lead him to murder before. Information technology does cross the line a number of times, particularly with a series of photos of Roman Sharon and Polanski Tate, among which is a picture of Tate’s corpse, but there’s loads of interest to get onto. If absolutely nothing else, the stark black and white cinematography is gorgeous, and manager Wakamatsu’s usage of music is masterful. A trip many will certainly wish to take, while other people, and you also possibly understand it already, should stay away from. The manager later on went on to produce Oshima’s In the Realm of the Senses, which, while definitely a good film, is far less daring and compelling as Go Go Second Time Virgin. 9/10.
